Live close to the gallery and the beach, develop your practice and give new work the space to emerge. Stay in your own space or enjoy the local art community.

The residency gives you what everyday life rarely does:
uninterrupted time, a different rhythm and a new point of
view. You stay in central Málaga, around 10 minutes from the
gallery, five minutes from the beach and surrounded by the
city's cultural life.
Work independently in your
private room and create at the gallery on agreed days. You can
also shape an artist talk, workshop or small project with
TFAG, subject to approval and scheduling.
THIS IS NOT JUST A STAY. IT IS TIME SET ASIDE FOR YOUR
PRACTICE.
Málaga becomes part of the process: the light,
the streets, the sea, the pace and the conversations you would
not have at home.
TFAG is close enough to become
part of your working life throughout the residency. When the
calendar aligns, openings, talks, gallery events and informal
conversations can bring you into contact with local artists,
international residents and Málaga's wider creative community.

Málaga offers Mediterranean light and sea, a lively city centre, quiet working time and a cultural life that continues beyond the studio.
Your private room is around 10 minutes from the gallery, with a shared bathroom and kitchen. Work at your own pace, create at TFAG on agreed days and shape an artist talk, workshop or small project, subject to approval and scheduling.
The residency places you close to Málaga's local creative scene and international expat community. Depending on the dates and TFAG schedule, you may encounter openings, talks, gallery events, visiting artists and new conversations around your work.
The total residency fee is €1,490 for the full three-week stay. Curated group-show participation may be considered, but is not guaranteed. Final booking, cancellation, house and legal terms will be confirmed before any booking becomes binding.
AFTER ACCEPTANCE
FUNDING SUPPORT.
After acceptance, TFAG may, where appropriate, provide an invitation or supporting letter confirming the residency dates, collaboration and purpose. Artists apply for funding independently, and TFAG cannot guarantee eligibility, approval or funding.

Artist Residency Terms
Residency fee and inclusions
The residency fee is €1,490 for three weeks. It includes a private room, shared bathroom and kitchen, Wi-Fi, normal utilities, space to work in your room and agreed gallery access.
Travel, food, art materials, production costs, personal expenses and a private bathroom are not included.
Application and selection
The residency is application-only and cannot be booked directly. Applications are reviewed individually and may result in accepted, waitlisted or not selected.
Acceptance and payment
Accepted artists have seven calendar days to accept the offer and make the required payment.
For residencies beginning more than 90 days after acceptance, a 30% reservation deposit of €447 is required. The remaining €1,043 is due no later than 90 days before arrival. If the residency begins within 90 days, the full €1,490 fee is due within the seven-day acceptance period.
A place is secured only after the required payment has been received and written booking confirmation has been issued.
Security deposit
A separate refundable security deposit of €200 is required before check-in. It may be used only for documented damage beyond normal wear, missing keys, damage to property or exceptional cleaning. The remaining deposit is normally returned within seven days after check-out.
Cancellation by the artist
- More than 90 days before arrival: the 30% reservation deposit is retained and any additional residency fee paid is refunded.
- 61 to 90 days before arrival: 50% of the total residency fee is refundable.
- 31 to 60 days before arrival: 25% of the total residency fee is refundable.
- 30 days or less before arrival: the residency fee is non-refundable.
- No-show or early departure: no refund is normally provided for unused residency time.
Changing your residency period
An accepted artist may request one change to another available period when the request is received more than 30 days before arrival, a suitable period is available and the gallery approves the change.
Cancellation by the gallery
If the gallery has to cancel a confirmed residency before it begins, the artist will be offered either a transfer to another available period or a refund of residency fees paid to the gallery. Independently booked travel, materials and other external costs are not covered except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
Gallery access and activities
Gallery access is coordinated with the gallery and is not unlimited private studio access. Artist talks, workshops, live painting, small projects and other activities are optional and subject to approval, suitability and scheduling.
Exhibition opportunity
A resident artist may be considered for one artwork in a relevant group exhibition. Participation is subject to curatorial selection, suitability, timing and available space. The residency does not guarantee exhibition participation, artwork sales, gallery representation, press coverage or other commercial results.
House rules
- No smoking or vaping indoors.
- No parties or overnight guests without prior approval.
- Shared spaces must be left clean and reasonable noise levels maintained.
- Hazardous, highly flammable or toxic materials require prior approval.
- Floors, furniture and surfaces must be protected while making artwork.
- Gallery access must follow agreed times and staff instructions.
Artist responsibilities
Artists remain responsible for their materials, equipment, travel, visas or entry requirements, personal insurance, health and travel insurance, personal belongings and artistic decisions. A finished artwork is not required.
Intellectual property
The artist retains ownership and copyright in their artwork. Residency participation does not transfer the artist's intellectual property to the gallery. Photography, documentation and promotional use are handled through clear permission.
These terms remain subject to mandatory rights under applicable law and the final booking agreement.
